As far as I know, I am one of few people that do this in the honda world in south florida. Cam degreeing is VERY important when putting in ANY camshaft. Degreeing a cam(s) is when you line up the MEASURED degrees on the camshaft to the motor. After degreeing is done, you will know the piston to vavle clearance, correct cam gear position.
Note, I have never dropped a valve or had piston to valve contact after degreeing cams.
Pics of me mocking up the fixtures on a stock motor:
$150 for degreeing a motor outside of the car
$250 for degreeing a motor inside of the car
